Scene of the Week: Blind Beggar Bar Fight
One of the many accomplishments of Cannon Films in the 1980’s was introducing the action world to a man by the name of Michael Dudikoff.
Dudikoff starred in many a Cannon Film, including Avenging Force and Platoon Leader. But he is most known for his work in the American Ninja movies, where he played Joe Armstrong.
I have selected one of my favorite scenes from the first sequel in the American Ninja franchise, American Ninja 2: The Confrontation.
In American Ninja 2, Joe Armstrong and Curtis Jackson (Steve James) are on a mission to investigate the disappearance of U.S. soldiers on an island in the Caribbean.
After receiving orders from their commanding officer, Captain “Wild Bill” Woodward to assist a woman in peril, Joe and Jackson find themselves in a rough part of town, and the spot where many of the enlisted men have disappeared, the Blind Beggars Bar. Larry Poindexter, who plays Sgt. Charlie McDonald, joins in on the action and to add a little comedy to this good old fashioned bar fight.
Please note the great soundtrack in this scene courtesy of George S. Clinton. The score adds another level of enjoyment, as all good movie scores should, to this Scene of the Week.
