Scene of the Week: The King of Kickboxers
This is one those movies where some of it is so bad that it’s good. Other times you will really enjoy this flick, though. The fight scenes are really fun to watch and this scene especially has been called one of the best martial arts fight scenes in movie history. I don’t think that I would go so far as to say that but it is pretty sweet. I always like me some Billy Blanks and as long as Avedon doesn’t have to talk too much he isn’t so bad. The multiple levels and the cage make this an even more unique fight and Blanks looks like an absolute beast next to Avedon. This fight scene took two weeks to film and you have to figure that it was hot as shit filming in the jungle like that. You can find the movie in YouTube and I highly recommend checking it out.
Plot: Jake Donahue (Avedon) is a New York cop who is used to going undercover to get his man. This time, though, he must travel all the way to Thailand to uncover who is behind a video-fighting ring where the loser is killed on camera for paying viewers to see. Jake notices that the man fighting is the same man who killed his brother years earlier and left Jake scarred. Now Jake has a chance to get vengeance and justice in one fell swoop.
