Damsels: Jesse Huston
This week’s Damsel is a character played by an actress who is a personal favorite of mine Sharon Stone. Growing up in the 80’s, you probably understand why Stone is a favorite of any mans as she was the hottest woman around for quite some time. While this movie didn’t allow for her to show any excess skin like in Basic Instinct, she personified the ultimate damsel in distress waiting for the dashing hero to rescue her.
I could have easily called this article “damsels who cause distress” as Jesse Huston (Sharon Stone) seems to cause just as much trouble as the villains in the movie. Jesse hires the charismatic Allan Quatermain (Richard Chamberlain) to help her find her father who is in Africa searching for the legendary King Solomon’s Mines. Jesse and Allan are constantly getting themselves into trouble with wacky tribesman and being chased by a rogue German explorer. Jesse screams with the best of them while wearing her little khaki shorts and does her best to distract us as viewers from the lack of character development. Either way this is Sharon Stone’s first big movie and she is as cute as can be.
Quatermain convinces Jesse to let her clothes dry out a bit cause it is so hot there….good call Allan.
She has tamed the wild beast…aka, a 3 month old leopard.
These tribesmen are wearing the controversial “white face”.
