Tough Chicks: Lai Lai Zhen – The Tournament
There is a little movie that came out back in 2009 called The Tournament which stars the sexy and sultry Kelly Hu. The movie itself is about a tournament that happens every seven years between the world’s top assassins battling it out for pride and fortune; and of course their lives. Hu plays Lai Lai Zhen, a contract killer facing off against some intimidating competition including Ving Rhames, Ian Somerhalder, Sebastien Foucan, Craig Conway, and even my man Scott Adkins. Robert Carlyle from 28 Weeks Later and Liam Cunningham also star in this action-packed thrill ride of a movie.
It’s a real shame that this movie takes its plot so seriously cause we don’t get to see as much of Kelly Hu as I would have liked. I guess it is a blessing in disguise as it makes for a very enjoyable movie but it still would have been nice to get some more skin outta Hu. She gets to kick some serious ass here though and I have no complaints about that. I’ve been a fan of hers since Martial Law and it’s truly amazing to see how well she has aged over the years. Judge for yourself.
