Tough Chicks: Milla Jovovich – The Fifth Element
Today we celebrate the birthday of visionary director Luc Besson. Besson brought us Bulletproof Action favorites Leon: The Professional, Lucy, and The Fifth Element. It is with that third film that we travel to for our Woman Crush Wednesday, and it is Luc Besson that we have to thank for this outfit.
Milla Jovovich had already acted in several projects but nothing quite as big as her character Leeloo in The Fifth Element. She was still a fresh face and had a model’s physique that the public went nuts for. I think that Director Luc Besson knew what he was doing when he shoved Milla in all those tight costumes and filmed her from a number of different angles. Everything about The Fifth Element was a product of Luc Besson’s imagination. The film was written by Besson while he was in high school and the language spoken by Leeloo in the film was invented by Besson himself. It is said that Milla and Luc got so good with the made up language that they could have a conversation using only it by the end of filming.
Jovovich would make quite an impression on Hollywood as she would go on to star in the Resident Evil franchise which has had at least 43 different films. How they continue to make money fascinates me. Will they ever stop? I know one thing that won’t stop…that body.
Don’t assume from this picture that Leeloo can’t take care of herself.
Because she definitely can!
