Scene of the Week: Desert Chase
On June 12, 1981 the world was introduced to a character that would capture both their hearts and their imaginations, that character was archaeologist extraordinaire Indiana Jones. The movie that introduced him was Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Raiders of the Lost Ark reunited Harrison Ford and George Lucas, who had a great deal of success with two Star Wars movies at that point, and threw in Director Steven Spielberg to create pure movie magic.
The character of Indiana Jones would appear in three more feature films (with a fourth sequel set to be released in 2019). Television got in on the swashbuckling action with The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles series. There have also been video games, graphic novels and books dedicated to the character’s continuing adventures.
In this week’s Scene of the Week we travel back 35 years ago and take a look at my favorite scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The scene features Indy trying to recapture the Lost Ark of the Covenant from the evil Nazis. The scene features music from the master of movie soundtracks, John Williams.
