Scene of the Week: The Fellowship of the Ring
While I generally believe that I have been mostly unchanged since childhood, my eating habits have most certainly expanded and I watch far less Schwarzenegger movies per week. Back then, I was on a steady diet of hamburgers/fries and weekly viewings of Predator and T2.
My food palate is still crap but I’m much more open to substituting a new food from time to time and as much as I’d like to I sometimes go a couple months without seeing Predator or T2. I guess it’s all just a casualty of growing up and getting older.
I recently did something that I hadn’t done since junior high; made it through the J.R.R. Tolkien classic The Hobbit. I probably even enjoyed it more now that I’m older. It doesn’t hurt that I can pop in the 46 hour long Peter Jackson movies after finishing the book in order to satisfy any needs that the book alone couldn’t fulfill. But I can never stop with just The Hobbit, I always have to rewatch The Lord of the Rings as well.
Don’t take this as complaining but for a guy like myself who has so many obligations in life already, sitting down to watch 20 hours of extended orc killings and Orlando Bloom can be a real handful. That doesn’t change, however, just how awesome that series is. There are so many epic battles it is hard to pick one and say that it better than the rest. Thankfully, my only purpose here is to reconnect you with you with a scene that I find to be highly entertaining. Each character gets his chance to shine, and like any good scene in an action film, Sean Bean dies in it.
