Scene of the Week: Cobra vs. Night Slasher
Brian Thompson was born on August 28th, 1959 in Ellsworth, Washington. Thompson was bit by the acting bug when he was just a senior in high school and the rest, as they say is history.
Thompson’s height and look made him a natural for the world of action entertainment. In fact, Thompson’s first role was a small part in the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic, The Terminator. Action movies make up a great deal of Thompson’s filmography including Lionheart with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Commando Squad with William Smith, Hired to Kill with George Kennedy and Rage and Honor with Cynthia Rothrock.
But Brian Thompson’s biggest role in an action movie was in 1986’s Cobra starring Sylvester Stallone and Brigitte Nielsen.
Thompson plays the Night Slasher, a homicidal maniac/cult leader who along with his loyal followers are killing people at random. It is safe to say that the Night Slasher is not your typical criminal, so it only makes sense that in order to defeat him you’ll need a cop who plays by his own rules. Marion “Cobra” Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone), is part of the LAPD’s infamous Zombie Squad and he is definitely a cop that plays by his own rules.
This week’s Scene of the Week, is the epic final showdown between the Night Slasher and Cobra. A scene where the disease meets its cure…
