Damsels: Vanessa Marcil – The Rock
The Rock has so many great things going for it. It has an unbelievable cast led by Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery, Ed Harris, and John Spencer but there are so many notable action stars floating around this movie that you’ll be hard pressed to find a scene with an actor you haven’t seen before.
One actress, though (in a film dominated by men), that I definitely recognized from her work on the daytime soap opera General Hospital, was Vanessa Marcil. A rookie to the action world, Marcil plays a very crucial role in The Rock, a movie that has so many manly actors and badass moments that it took the gentle touch of such a beauty to create a sense of tension during.
Vanessa plays the lovely Carla Pestalozzi, the girlfriend of our hero Stanley Goodspeed. Stanley follows the former Alcatraz inmate back into the island fortress only to learn that a long range missile armed with some deadly stuff is aimed right at the city where dear old Carla is now staying.
It gives Stanley even more reason to want to succeed in his mission. Nobody wants their hot fiancé to get blasted with a bunch of chemical weapons so we see the transformation of Goodspeed from the dorky Chemical guy to the badass hero.
