Scene of the Week: Suck My Wake
All of you fellow boat owners and boating enthusiasts know that some of the most fun you can have on water is water skiing. If you have never been lucky to participate in the exhilarating activity, there is still no doubt that it is always entertaining to watch for both the skill of the skier, and the possibility that there will be a world class crash.
This week’s scene of the week features both! The Great Outdoors is a comedy about two families that are vacationing on a lake and decide to try water skiing. Chet Ripley (the late John Candy) is trying to teach his son the finer points of water skiing when a mistaken hand signal causes action comedy gold to ensue. I will take you behind the curtain to let you know that John Candy was not actually doing the skiing, a stunt double was used.
