Women of Action: Keira Knightley – Domino
I’ve always been a big Keira Knightley fan. There is something about those eyes and that tiny little body that worked for me. She kinda fell into the cash cow that was the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and has become the go-to girl for any movie set in Victorian England. The fact that she has been typecast hasn’t exactly been a negative though. She was one of the highest paid actresses in the world in 2007 and has won multiple Academy Award nominations for her roles over the years, but more importantly, just how hot was she as theĀ infamous Domino Harvey?
For those of you not in the know, 2005’s Domino attempts to tell the story of the real life Domino Harvey. Harvey was the English born daughter of actor Laurence Harvey and model Paulene Stone. Her posh lifestyle was tossed away by Domino when she dropped out of school and her career as a model to become a bounty hunter at the age of 24.
As you might have expected, the film based on her life is probably much more glamorous and exciting than the real story. The real Harvey was an addict who was in and out of rehab clinics while living in above the garage of her mother’s home. Kudos to the filmmakers for getting Keira out of her 18th century comfort zone (and out of her clothes) but the film seemed much more of a rich girl’s fantasy about being a bounty hunter instead of the real thing.
