Women of Action: Courteney Cox – 3000 Miles to Graceland
Courteney Cox has done a number of shows where she plays the “cougar”, and at least four movies where she’s chased around by a guy in a ghost mask, but only one (that I know of) where she bangs an Elvis impersonator who also happens to rob casinos. 3000 Miles to Graceland is one of my favorite movies of the early 2000’s and a movie that I half-expected to gain a cult following based on its wild story and use of Kurt Russell. Most of his movies have gained a massive following but not a single one has featured a scene where he banged that chick from Friends and then left her a snickers bar as a quasi-payment/gift.
Cox is arguably at her hottest as “Cybil with a C” in 3000 Miles to Graceland. She plays a single mom living at the hotel that Kurt Russell’s Michael Zane stays at while he and his crew are dealing with the aftermath of the casino robbery. She ends up knocking boots with Russell pretty quickly and pawns off her son on him. The two start bonding and then find themselves on the offensive after Cybil is kidnapped by the villainous Murphy played by Kevin Costner. There is no doubt that 3000 Miles has the action movie market cornered on Elvis-inspired action but there must be something missing from the movie that I don’t see since it hasn’t moved the meter like I thought. My suggestion….more Cybil.
That’s a good butt.
3000 Miles doesn’t provide much more in the skin game but there are enough gun battles to satisfy any true action fan. Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner are awesome as always but the real emotional impact of the movie comes from Courteney Cox and her son and their constant threat of death. Guys can shoot at each other for hours but if you don’t care about who gets shot then it all means nothing.
