Scene of the Week: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge
Today we honor those brave souls who dared to look like absolute fools on national television all in the name of game show fun and prizes. In this special edition of Scene of the Week we will take a look at one complete episode from the fourth season of the series Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.
Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (or MXC for those in the know) aired on Spike TV from 2003-2007. The show was comprised of repurposed footage from the Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle that originally aired on the Tokyo Broadcasting System from 1986-1990. Through the magic of voice overs, sound effects and editing MXC was able to take the original Takeshi’s Castle concept of 40 players starting out until it got down to five contestants to storm Takeshi’s castle and instead created a game where two teams competed against one another. Match ups like Cops vs. Cons, Beauty Pageants vs. Military Personnel and Country Music Superstars vs. The World of James Bond were just some of the whacky competitions that MXC presented with their own crude brand of commentary and characters.
I selected an episode perfect for a site all about the world of action entertainment, it is Tough Guys vs. Chick Flicks in this very special edition of Scene of the Week…
