Scene of the Week: City Dragon
Have you ever watched a movie that was so bad that you could not even finish it? Did you then take that movie, box it up and mail it 2300 miles away before it some how tainted the quality movies in your collection? One such movie for me was 1995’s City Dragon.
Now I knew going in City Dragon was going to be bad. The cover art that looked like something I could create with my limited Photoshop skills. The 3.3 rating on IMDb. The fact that it starred a guy named MC Kung Fu (his government name is Stan Derain). All of these things were good indicators that City Dragon was going to be bad and I could not wait… because SPOILER ALERT, sometimes I purposely choose movies that look bad so I can rant and rave about them in hopes of entertaining the audience with a scathing What Not To Watch review.
But unlike a bad movie like Airboss where the venom just flowed from my fingertips as I typed up my review… I was in some sort of stunned silence while watching City Dragon. My notes for the film may as well have been written in ancient hieroglyphics. None of the words I was writing down made any sense because words can not really describe City Dragon. Realizing deep into my viewing of the movie that I was not going to be able to get a review out of City Dragon, I hit the eject button.
Then just a few days ago I came across a music video for a song that was featured in City Dragon named “Scandaluss”. The song was written and performed by MC Kung Fu himself. After watching the video I realized that while no words could ever encapsulate what City Dragon was all about, this music video sure as hell could…
