Women of Action: Catherine Mary Stewart – Night of the Comet
Surviving the apocalypse isn’t the easiest thing to do. Especially when that same life-changing event may be the reason why the dinosaurs were introduced to mass extinction all those years ago. Let’s just say that there is no fighting back against something that turns 99.999% of the planet into dust.
Catherine Mary Stewart was a sex symbol from the moment she hit the screen, and in my opinion, she was never hotter than when she was in Night of the Comet. Stewart plays Regina, a young arcade loving, motorcycle riding, gun enthusiast. Do they make women that amazing? Regina wakes up from spending the night bumping uglies in a steel projection room to find that most of the world’s population has now turned into a crushed brick substance. Lucky for Regina, her little sister Samantha (played by Kelli Maroney) also found herself sleeping in a steel shed during the infamous comet sighting.
Fans of The Omega Man will take great joy in Night of the Comet. Regina and Samantha find themselves almost alone in the world and they spend their time doing stuff like shopping, firing sub-machine guns at cars, and talking about boys. It’s what I assume all women do when they’re alone. Regina and Samantha end up coming to terms with the idea that the “burden of civilization” might fall on them as a few of the remaining survivors of planet Earth. They take it on surprisingly well, but I guess that is to be expected after you just got attacked by a bunch of zombie looking dudes.
Regina is a badass and a total babe. She kicks ass when she needs to and gets sexy when it’s appropriate. We would all be lucky to spend our last remaining days playing 80’s arcade games and banging it out in movie theaters with Catherine Mary Stewart.
One of my favorite films of CMS. I co-admin her official facebook site and would love to have anyone who reads this – join us http://www.facebook.com/catherinemarystewart
