Women of Action: Li Bingbing – The Meg
She might not be in the best of standing with the Chinese government but she definitely has my vote of confidence. Her name is Li Bingbing. She’s not a Teletubby or any other character from a children’s show, she’s a beautiful Chinese actress who has starred in massive action franchises like Transformers, Resident Evil, and standalone (so far) The Meg. If you don’t know…now you know.
Suyin (Li) is the daughter of extremely wealthy Dr. Zhang, played by Winston Chao. It is Chao’s character who decides to build this massive underwater facility that Dwight Shrute invests in. It gives the character the perfect place to store their stuff while they wait for a massive shark to eat everyone.
Suyin isn’t just a pretty face in The Meg. She’s a brilliant lady, no doubt, and obviously a loving mother. She also happens to be the second most useful character in the entire movie. Statham has to be at the top for all of his skills and coolness but it is Suyin who pushes much of the action forward. She jumps into the tiny subs to go after that guy from Heroes, she climbs her sexy body into that plastic shark cage, and she acts as the motivator for Jason Statham to not die so he can get him a piece.
If you love underwater action and watching sharks swallow people whole then The Meg is for you. Statham couldn’t ask for a better partner than Li Bingbing.
