Women of Action: Maggie Grace – Lockout
Lockout must have been the easiest check that John Carpenter ever cashed. A French court ruled against Luc Besson in 2015 and Carpenter was awarded a cool $95,000. Drama, notwithstanding, Lockout was the type of film that you watch late at night because Guy Pearce is full of charisma and the movie takes some of the best parts of the Snake Plissken stories and puts them in the deep, dark, abyss of space!
If you’re unfamiliar with Snake Plissken, er, Snow’s mission to infiltrate the space penitentiary to rescue the daughter of the President then let me give you just one line from the movie that might make it all worth it; “What if we send in one guy?”
The lovely Maggie Grace plays the daughter of the President, Emilie Warnock. She’s visiting the maximum security prison in space that is just waiting to be overrun by psychopaths and rapists. Sucks to be her. The convenient part of it all is that Guy Pearce’s Snow is the type of man that you put on a one-way mission.
Maggie turns out to be a lot stronger than anyone expects. She survives long enough for Snow to rescue her, then she chops off her hair and starts blasting people with a shotgun. Shit gets real when you’re on the verge of being sexually assaulted in space.
