Scene of the Week: Axel Foley’s Wild Ride
This week’s Scene of the Week would make for a terrible instructional video at the Hamrick Truck Driving School, but it made for a great action piece to kick off the blockbuster hit, Beverly Hills Cop!

One of Detroit’s finest, Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is working undercover and attempting to sell a truck of stolen cigarettes to two criminal types in a back alley in Detroit. The deal is about to go down when a patrol car happens upon them… the bad guys fight or flight instincts kick in and they choose flight. This leads to a phalanx of police cruisers chasing the cigarette truck through the streets of the Motor City. The chase is filled with wanton destruction. During the chase Axel Foley finds himself holding on for his life in the back of the trailer while the The Pointer Sisters’ hit “Neutron Dance” punctuates the scene…
