Scene of the Week: Firewalker
Chuck Norris was born on March 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma. You might think based on his reputation and skill level that Chuck Norris was doing karate moves right out of the womb… but truth be told it wasn’t until Chuck found himself stationed in Korea while serving in the United States Air Force right out of high school that Chuck began studying the Korean style of martial arts known as Tang Soo Do. By 1964, Chuck Norris was fighting competitively and collecting championships along the way. When his fight career was over Chuck turned his attention to his acting career and by the late 70’s Chuck was churning out a new movie every year.
There is no denying that Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, the masterminds behind Cannon, gave Chuck the most opportunities in Hollywood. Cannon turned Chuck Norris into a bonafide action hero with movies like Missing in Action, Invasion U.S.A. and The Delta Force.
But one of the Cannon produced Chuck Norris films that doesn’t get the attention it deserves is 1986’s Firewalker. In Firewalker, Chuck plays adventurer/treasure hunter Max Donigan, who along with his partner in crime Porter (Louis Gossett Jr., Iron Eagle) are in search of gold after the lovely but mysterious Patricia Goodwin (Melody Anderson, Flash Gordon) presents them with a treasure map and in turn a world of trouble.
In this week’s Scene of the Week, the trio find themselves involved in a good old fashioned bar room brawl…
