Ryan Shoots First: Triple Frontier
It’s not every day here at Bulletproof Action we get the chance to review a film with such a star studded cast as Triple Frontier. And I mean star studded, I don’t know how Netflix pulled this one off but the film stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Pedro Pascal, and Charlie Hunnam. You will be hard pressed to find a tougher cast than that in a movie this year not titled “Avengers”. It is not just the cast but the pedigree they bring. Most of these guys don’t just put their name on anything minus maybe Hunnam and a dark time in Affleck’s career but since then they all have impressive, careful bodies of work.
The movie revolves around all these guys as ex military best of the bests. Now they are all retired struggling to stay busy, out of trouble and make ends meet. After consulting on a drug raid Isaac’s character comes across some information that could finally get the guys the financial support they’ve always felt they earned. The A-Team vibes it gives off are right down my alley. After some selective recruiting the team is together and the plan is in place. As you can imagine the movie is not only 20 minutes because everything goes by the book. Crap hits the fan and the team is in too deep. Just how BPA likes it!
You really feel for these guys Isaac at one point tells Affleck’s character “you’ve been shot 5 times for your country and can’t even afford a new truck.” These guys are some of the baddest dudes on the planet and never really can shut it off when they are forced into civilian lives. The overwhelming strength of this film is the cast but the action and cinematography is all top notch. The scenery shot in UHD on Netflix is breathtaking. It’s frankly amazing that we can get films of this quality and with this much polish and power from a service we just blindly pay for. I don’t know how much longer Netflix can keep it up but I’m all for it.
Triple Frontier is smart, slick, and more than just some A List actors written a blank check to put their name to something. I would be down to see more adventures of this group of alphas using their skills to finally get that score they’ve been chasing their whole lives. As a wise man once said “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Good film shame I watched it on tablet on bus to work should have waited till got home
