Women of Action: Julie Benz – Rambo
We do not know what exactly John Rambo had been up to for the past 20 years. His previous appearance in 1988 for Rambo III saw him fighting against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Looking back, arming, training, and fighting alongside the Taliban wasn’t the best decision. So it’s not a massive surprise that he followed that adventure up with 20 years of solitude, hunting snakes, sharpening his knives, and apparently doing a shit-load of push-ups.
Julie Benz’s character Sarah entered Rambo’s life like a whirlwind. He was just minding his own business, operating a seemingly very profitable snake wrangling business in Myanmar (lucky!), when she stormed in and changed everything. For the first time in years, John found it hard to say no to someone. He found that old familiar pull towards doing something for someone else. It was only after John retreated to the safety of his loneliness that he discovered that maybe he could be the old man he once was. Unfortunately, it was a little late for take-backs.
Sarah and her fellow humanitarians ended up in a bit of a pickle. Most of her friends were killed immediately and she was being held as a prisoner for an army of lonely men. Things were bleak, to say the least. That seems to be when guys like John Rambo arise to the occasion and really start to mess shit up. It’s a good thing that Julie wore her best perfume when she first showed up at John’s crib!
I had to add that last picture just to remind you of how hot Julie Benz is when she’s not covered in blood, mud, and shit. To make a long story short, Rambo saved the day. He rescued the lovely Sarah, found a bit of the humanity that he had lost, and finally found that sometimes you can go home.
