Women of Action: Jennifer Aniston – Murder Mystery
Will there ever be a time when Adam Sandler has a wife in a movie that isn’t far too hot for him? I think not. That is one of the perks of having 3-4 movies come out each year and getting to handpick the actress to play your spouse. Is it any surprise that he has revisited the Jennifer Aniston well for Netflix’s new Murder Mystery?
Though far from being a true action movie, Murder Mystery is the type of movie that follows a pretty standard plot involving a fish out of water couple who are being framed for murder. It’s not exactly going to challenge you mentally but still manages to be funny, entertaining, and feature several scenes of hottie Jennifer Aniston running from danger.
I was surprised to see that the ageless wonder that is Jennifer Aniston finally looked a bit older. Maybe it was just me or that I had recently watched an earlier film of hers, but Jen’s usual amazing look only looks fantastic in this. Put her next to Sandler, though, and she’s absolutely angelic.
Murder Mystery plays the Clue game with the duo after they get on board a yacht full of rich folk and all of their drama. Things get a bit out of hand, someone ends up dead, and the unknown Americans become the usual suspects. It falls on Jen and Adam’s shoulders to prove their innocence to the local police before they get Amanda Knox’ed away for years in a French prison.
There is no way Sandler would make it in prison with that mustache so they’re forced to find the true killer and exonerate themselves. Murder Mystery is full of great back-and-forth between the two leads and I wouldn’t be surprised if they visited these characters or something like them again in the near future. It was definitely one of the rare films that I could watch with my wife and we would both come away similar feelings. If only she felt the same way about Predator as she does these kinds of movies….
