Women of Action: Carrie-Anne Moss – Return to The Matrix
Today I get to be the bearer of a double-dose of good news as it is not only the birthday of the fabulous Carrie-Anne Moss, but also the day that we get word of the newest sequel in the world of The Matrix.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Matrix and I guess someone thought it was finally the right time to bring back all of the dead characters from the last movie for one last go. Maybe the Wachowski Sisters forgot they killed them off and are just reverting back to one of their original ideas from 18 years ago. Either way, the optimist in me says this is one last chance to get to see another steamy sex scene where Neo and Trinity don’t insert things into each others spinal holes. I mean, c’mon, why wouldn’t you try to stick something in there? At least let me charge my phone!
Carrie-Anne Moss is, of course, the delightfully awesome Trinity from the film series. She’s given far too little credit for all she did to keep Neo trained, entertained, and motivated to keep on with his terrible existence. Neo might be “The One” but Trinity is at least his better half. That makes her “The 1/2”. Not as catchy of a name.
Carrie-Anne also had some of the best action scenes of the entire series. From the opening scenes of The Matrix, the amazing bike chase of Reloaded, and then that wicked scene fighting those vampire guys at The Merovingian’s crib. Neo and Morpheus normally get all of the credit for saving humankind from the machines but without Trinity, Neo would still be working that 9 to 5 and playing video games.
Hopefully this new Matrix 4 news is good news and not just some attempt at getting the Wachowski’s back into the good graces of moviegoers. Keanu is definitely the hot ticket right now in Hollywood and everyone and their brother is going to be banging down his door to put him in their movie. Just wait till you see Johnny Mnemonic 2 coming out. Then we’ll know they’ve truly run out of ideas. Until then, help me wish Carrie-Anne a very happy birthday!
