Scene of the Week: Shock Treatment 2.0
“The one that got away”… for most people that statement is about that person you believed you were supposed to end up living happily ever after with, but things just didn’t pan out… For fisherman it is often the finale for some fantastic fish story… for architect/vigilante Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) in Death Wish II, the one that got away meant something entirely different…
In Death Wish II, Paul Kersey finds his life taking a dark turn once again after he and his daughter are victimized by a gang of thugs. When his daughter ends up dead, Kersey starts hunting down and eliminating the thugs, one by one. But there’s one particular thug that stood out from the rest, Nirvana (Thomas F. Duffy).
Time and time again, Nirvana managed to escape the wrath of Kersey. But Nirvana is not able to escape the LAPD (not due to a lack of trying). Nirvana is put into the justice system, stands trial and remanded to a psychiatric hospital… this verdict does not sit well with Paul Kersey.
Kersey is determined to not let Nirvana be “the one who got away”, so he impersonates a doctor, gets into the hospital and… well, this week’s Scene of the Week will explain the rest…
