Scene of the Week: Tombstone – I’m your huckleberry
The moment that Doc Holliday walks out from the shade and into the sunlight Johnny Ringo was shook. Tombstone has to be one of the most quotable movies in cinema history and part of the reason for that is the excellent performances given by the cast. Writer Kevin Jarre really hit the jackpot when this group of men and women were brought together for this film.
I grew up watching John Ford movies. More accurately, I grew up watching my father watch John Ford movies. It wasn’t exactly my favorite genre as an eight year old (not enough ninjas) but I did enjoy them and seeing the look on my father’s face made them even better. He still watches the same stuff. Much like how I watch Predator at least a couple of times each year, my dad is usually just one ‘back button’ click away from the Western channel on his cable box. While Tombstone plays the Western genre a little differently than John Wayne or John Ford might have done it, there’s no doubt that this film is seriously awesome!
Check out Val Kilmer and Michael Biehn in one of my favorite scenes from Tombstone below.
