Bullet Points: Kill Ben Lyk

Kill Ben Lyk is hitting the digital world soon, and will be screened in Los Angeles tonight. Fortunately, I got my hands on an early access screener, and for some reason, I received a lot of fan letters about it at Bulletproof Action Headquarters. Now, it is time to answer some of your burning questions, and help you decide if Kill Ben Lyk is a hit or a miss.

Dear RTG, why does someone want to kill Ben Lyk?

• Great question, smartass! So, Ben Lyk acts like a total knob. He’s a YouTube Vlogger, and his niche is getting the shit kicked out of him on camera. He’s an annoying wanker, and you would think that’s why someone wants him dead. However, Ben Lyk witnessed a murder, and since he left his gym membership card at the scene of the crime, all the bad guys have to go on is a name. So, what do you do? You kill all the blokes with the name Ben Lyk to make sure you get the right person. If you can’t tell from my choice of lingo, Kill Ben Lyk is a film from the United Kingdom.

Dear RTG, does Kill Ben Lyk have a lot of action?

• Kill Ben Lyk does have a decent amount of death and blood. People die, and bullets fly. However, the film is a very dark comedy. The humor isn’t going to be for everyone, and the film is simply odd at times. With some of the scenes, I honestly thought the director was laughing his ass off while screwing with the audience. Kill Ben Lyk is a mindfuck movie with twists you probably will not see coming. (Permission to use my quote on the DVD when it is released)

Dear RTG, did you want to kill Ben Lyk?

• YES, he’s annoying as hell. He never fully grew on me. I wish he would’ve been the first Ben to die. You see, the police gather all the potential victims named Ben Lyk. They put them in a safe house, but they start dying one by one. The police do a piss poor job protecting all the Bens. But, at least this is where we get a lot of the action. Honestly, about 90% of the Bens are annoying as fuck. I probably wanted almost all of them to die very painful deaths.

Dear RTG, what would you have done differently with the film?

• Easy answer. I would’ve used more of Ben’s friend, Roberto. He’s a funny as hell stoner who steals the few scenes he’s in. I also would’ve used more of Martyn Ford. He plays a badass named Bale, but we don’t get to see him acting like a badass. His role is mostly spent having odd conversations with a person I can’t reveal in the review, because I feel it gives too much of the plot away. I also would’ve found some way to include some gratuitous nudity because I wouldn’t be RTG if I didn’t want to see some hot nakedness.

Dear RTG, the word of the streets if you’re slamming Ben Lyk pretty hard. Did you like the movie at all?

• Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed Kill Ben Lyk to some degree. I liked the girl named Ben who spends the entire movie fuckin’ with annoying Ben’s mind. She made the movie for me. Definitely, a shoutout to the very entertaining, Simone Ashley. She’s great, and I want to see her in more movies. I also loved the beginning. The killer looking like a bad mofo with a super rad mask. He kills some dumbfuck in knight armor. The knight was trying to shag his mistress, and the killer comes in for some coitus interruptus. It is absolutely hilarious, and I wish the movie kept up with the masked killer doing his thing. Unfortunately, they kinda forget about the masked killer as the movie goes on. I also like how ballsy the movie is. No one is safe, and you can take that as a plus or a minus, depending on how attached to certain characters you get. I applaud the ending, but I still would’ve changed a couple of things. Overall, the movie is well made and it runs less than 80 minutes. I can definitely think of a lot worse ways to kill a rainy afternoon.

• Redbox- I wouldn’t pay $5.99 to stream Kill Ben Lyk, but a dollar rental is well worth the money.
• John Smith- Like come on, how many wankers are named Ben Lyk? Is Lyk the British version of Smith? Help me out, all my friends in the U.K!
• Game of Ben– Main character Ben is played by Eugene Simon, who portrayed Lancel Lannister on Game of Thrones. Come to think of it, he was pretty annoying on GoT as well. Just fuckin’ with you, Ben. Oops, I mean Eugene.
