Bullet Points: G-Loc
I got my hands on the brand new sci-fi flick, G-Loc. For those of you who don’t know, G-Loc is a low-budget British sci-fi flick. It is written and directed by Tom Paton, and it stars Stephen Moyer, Tala Gouveia, Casper Van Dien and John Rhys-Davies.
G-Loc is currently available for VOD rental or you can own it on DVD, but is it is worth your time and money?
Let’s go to the Bullet Points and find out…
- The Plot: Earth has seen better days. Space seems like a good escape. This new home is called Rhea. Rhea is supposed to be paradise in space. A new Earth. The problem: Some people on Rhea do not want any more refugee earthlings ruining their paradise. A devious plot has a spacecraft heading straight towards a refugee ship. Its mission is to destroy the ship and kill the refugees. The only hope to save the day are an unlikely duo: A Space Drifter named Bran Marshall and a Space Lady Rhean named Ohsha (Tala Gouveia).
- A Lot of Talk: I like my action big and bad. I am not the biggest fan of wordy sci-fi cinema. G-Loc has a lot of talk. We learn a lot about our lead character, Bran, played by Stephen Moyer. Moyer does a decent job as the lead, but I’ll always see him as True Blood’s Vampire Bill. We get a lot of flashback plot scenes with Bran and Henry (John Rhys-Davies). These flashbacks are supposed to add to the story, and if you like this kind of stuff, you will probably like it. For me, G-Loc moves a little bit too slow for my taste.
- Edison: My favorite character in the movie is a small robot personal assistant named Edison. Voiced by Mike Beckingham, Edison is a very low-budget Groot who speaks more than one sentence. Edison is the heart and soul of G-Loc. Edison’s goal is to build a better world. My goal is to make it through this review.
- CVD: Who doesn’t love Casper Van Dien? We here at Bulletproof Action spend hours and hours talking about his badassness. Casper isn’t the lead, and I’m honestly disappointed in that. He gets the heel role of Decker in G-Loc. Decker is the one trying to crash the ship. Casper delivers his lines with sheer brilliance. Somewhere, Johnny Rico is crying as CVD doesn’t get enough time on screen. Perhaps, we will see more of CVD when The 2nd is released later this year?
Let’s wrap this up with some Bonus Bullet Points…
- PG-13: G-Loc is rated PG-13 and it makes sure to get its one allowable F-bomb.
- Earther: If you ever find yourself in Space and want to insult someone from Earth, call them an Earther.
- Should You Watch: Like I said, G-Loc is too wordy for my taste. I can see what people would like in it, but it didn’t do the trick for me. If you like plot over action, you might like G-Loc as well.
