Scene of the Week: The Final Showdown in Little Tokyo
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was born on September 27, 1950 in Tokyo, Japan. Growing up an Army Brat, Tagawa spent his formative bouncing around from base to base with his family. Tagawa lived in Fort Bragg, Fort Polk and Fort Hood before his family finally settled in Southern California.
The move to Southern California would lay the groundwork for Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa to become on of Hollywood’s go to villains including starring opposite Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee in 1991’s Showdown in Little Tokyo.
In Showdown in Little Tokyo, Tagawa plays Funekei Yushida, a Yakuza boss with an ingenious plan of using a legit brewery as a way to distribute illegal narcotics. Taking down Yushida becomes a top priority on both a professional and personal level for our odd couple cops Chris Kenner (Dolph Lundgren) and Johnny Murata (Brandon Lee).
This week’s Scene of the Week takes a look at the final confrontation between Yushida and Kenner, complete with samurai swords and fireworks!
