Bullet Points: Warrior (S2 Ep3) “Not How We Do Business”
I tried my best to get #SAVEWARRIOR trending on Twitter. I ask you all to do everything in your power to help me save this series. I don’t want Warrior to end and tonight’s episode is another reason why.
- Enter the Dragon: We open the episode with Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) beating the snot out of another jobber in his quest to win as many underground fights as humanly possible. These opponents are no match for Ah Sahm. Rosalita Vega (Maria-Elena Laas) points this out to him. She alludes to an underground fight tournament that’s only for the best of the best. That’s the only information we get, but I believe when we see this tournament, it will be an homage to Enter the Dragon.
- Be grateful for your pain, it means your still alive: This statement is said more than once this episode, and it has to do with Mai Lang (Dianne Doan) Li Yong (Joe Taslim) and Zing (Dustin Nguyen). Something has to give. Li Yong is furious at Zing for the massacre of the small time tongs in the last episode. I believe he is also angry with Mai Lang for not having his back. This has to lead to a Li Yong vs. Zing fight to the death. I’m not sure who I’m putting my money on. Both are two of the strongest people in Chinatown. We also have a side partnership between Li Yong and Wang Chao (Hoon Lee). Chao hates Zing. He wants zero to do with him. I believe Chao and Li Yong will put their heads together to figure out a way to destroy Zing for good. It is so cool seeing Dustin Nguyen chewing up scenes. His tattoos give me nightmares, and he’s arguably the scariest character on the show. I do not want to see him in a dark alley late at night.
- Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hong: Ah Sahm and Young Jun don’t do a lot of business shenanigans in this episode. They are blindsided when Father Jun (Perry Yung) brings in a lot of new recruits to help grow his organization. It is a slap in the face to Young Jun and he lets Daddy know it. The positive of all these new recruits is the introduction of Hong (Chen Tang.) Hong isn’t like the rest of the new recruits. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and he is looking for some sticky. However, it isn’t the sticky the fellas like. Hong is gay, but who cares. This guy knows how to fight. Both Ah Sahm and Young Jun quickly befriend Hong after he beats the living shit out of some goons with his trusted chain. I think Hong will become the third amigo to Ah Sahm and Young Jun. This is another reason why I want Warrior to film more seasons. Hong’s character has the potential to be one of the best on the series.
- Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner: Most of episode 3 is all about plot and building for future episodes. I was surprised at the lack of action, until the final minutes of the episode. All hell breaks loose at Bill O’Hara’s (Kieran Bew) house. The bad guys sent by Zing, invade Bill’s house and are about to slice Bill’s kid’s throat. Luckily, Richard Lee (Tom Weston-Jones) is there to save the day. This is a family affair as Bill’s son and wife help in the fight. The main point of note is: Richard Lee now knows Bill works for the Chinese. What impact will this bring to their relationship? I’m not sure, but the fight at Bill’s house is a bloodbath I will not soon forget.
But wait, there’s more. I only highlighted the main themes of the episode, but we did see other characters as well. Episode 3’s problem is too many cool characters, and not enough time for all of them. That’s okay. I’m sure next week’s episode will kick ass and then some.
Now let’s wrap up this recap with another question filled set of Bonus Bullet Points.
- This week’s episode witnessed Assistant Mayor (and Chris the Brain’s most favorite character) Walter Buckley give a hooker a bath in the most creepiest of creepy ways. Will Walter take the next step, and sniff his sexual conquest next week?
- Dylan Leary and Sophie knocked some boots in this episode. Will Dylan find true love, and perhaps become a changed man through Sophie’s influence?
- Ah Toy didn’t do much this week, perhaps we see her go vigilante on some fools very soon?
- Rosalita hinted at Ah Sahm that she wants more than to pay him to fight. Could we see Ah Sahm give Rosalita some sexy time next week? Or, is he still hooked on Penny Blake?
- I have a feeling Wang Chao might die in the coming weeks. Am I just paranoid, or am I sensing something big?
