Bullet Points: Warrior (S2 Ep4) “If You Don’t See Blood, You Didn’t Come To Play”
Before I get into my recap of last night’s episode of Warrior, I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention a petition to #SaveWarrior. The petition can be found at this link and if you are a fan of the series, please take a moment to sign the petition and let the folks at HBO know, you want more Warrior!
With that out of the way, let’s get into the recap of “If You Don’t See Blood, You Didn’t Come To Play”…
- Aftermath: Last week’s episode ended with one of the most shocking events in the show’s short history as Bill O’Hara (Kieran Bew) and his family were attacked in their home by Zing’s Fung Hai assassins. Fortunately, Bill and his family survived the ordeal, but as Episode 4 begins, Bill is putting his wife and kids on a wagon out of town until he can diffuse his Fung Hai problems. Bill’s wife is all kinds of pissed, as she has suspected her husband has been up to something illegal, and the Fung Hai attack confirms her suspicions. Bill’s wife is not the only one Bill managed to piss off, when he confesses to his friend/co-worker Richard Lee (Tom Weston-Jones) that he has been collecting for Zing… Lee punches Bill and walks away, wanting nothing to do with Bill.
- Interesting Proposition: Somebody does want to talk to Bill and that somebody is Wang Chao (Hoon Lee). Chao has had his own issues with Zing and he warns Bill that if the San Francisco PD goes in to Fung Hai territory… but Chao is not just there to warn Bill, he has a proposition for him. Chao says he can provide proof that Zing is the mysterious swordsman that the police have been looking for… in exchange, Chao wants to be able to get back to business and have the inventory that the police confiscated from him returned. Bill agrees and Chao eventually makes his way over to Ah Toy’s and gets the murder weapon/sword from her. Chao is about to play a very dangerous game.
- Heated Conversations: The other big developments in Episode 4, involved some heated conversations between Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) and Dylan Leary (Dean Jagger) with the groundwork being laid for a physical confrontation between the two. But even more heated was the conversation between Penny Blake (Joanna Vanderham) and her younger sister Sophie (Celine Buckens)… at this point Sophie and Dylan have become very close, if you know what I mean, and the fight with her sister causes Sophie to leak some vital information to Dylan about the Mercer Steel factory that Penny inherited from their father. But Sophie takes it a step further and escorts Dylan and two of his men (with a bunch of dynamite) into Mercer Steel’s secret entrance… after they encounter and eliminate some of the Hop Wei security on duty, Dylan lights the dynamite and moments later Mercer Steel is in ruins. As the episode ends, Sophie obviously regrets what she has done.
Next week will mark the halfway point of Warrior Season 2 and based on the preview it looks like it is going to be an eventful episode (including a Joe Taslim/Dustin Nguyen battle). Check back here next week for our recap of Episode 5, but right now check out these question filled Bonus Bullet Points…
- Is trouble ahead for Mai Ling and Li Yong courtesy of their differing views of the Long Zi?
- How pissed is Penny going to be when she finds out that her factory is no more? Will Sophie own up to her part in it? And how happy will Penny’s husband Mayor Blake be about the turn of events?
- Will the private eye that Mai Ling has hired to dig up some dirt on that piece of shit Walter Buckley be successful?
- Will Ah Toy take Nellie Davenport up on her offer to visit the Davenport vineyard in Sonoma and see that there’s life beyond the brothel?
- Will any of the other Hop Wei recruits be foolish enough to mock Hong’s sexual preferences after what Young Jun did to the last guy that did it?
