Scene of the Week: Money Train
Money Train opened in theaters on November 22, 1995 and the movie was not without controversy. Days after the opening there were many that called for a boycott of the film, including Senator Bob Dole, after a tragic real life incident where two men in Brooklyn decided to copy the actions of the arsonist character in the film and a subway token clerk lost his life as a result.
Money Train was by all accounts a box office dud. One can assume the tragedy in Brooklyn and the negative attention that the incident brought to the film is at least partially to blame. But now looking back 25 years later, does Money Train deserve more love than it received upon its initial release? Or was it just a subpar action movie?
