Bullet Points: Enforcement
Magnolia Pictures is set to release Enforcement on March 19th to Theaters and On Demand. I caught a sneak peek and let us see if Enforcement is worth your time and money.
- The Plot: Enforcement almost feels too real. A pair of cops get caught in a battle of survival after a young man dies at the hands of the police. The streets turn into a warzone, as the cops try to survive the night. This is not Detroit, but Denmark. Enforcement aka Shorta stars Jacob Lohmann and Simon Sears as the cops. It is directed by Frederick Louis Hviid and Anders Olholm.
- The Cops: Enforcement is raw, gritty, emotional, exciting and action-packed. The two leads could not be any more different. Mike Andersen (Jacob Lohmann) is the seasoned hard-nosed cop. He believes you should always back up your fellow officers in blue no matter what. Jens Hoyer (Simon Sears) sees the world differently. He is more of a progressive thinker than Anderson. From a glance, you would assume Andersen is the “Bad” cop and Hoyer is the ‘Good” cop. However, Andersen is a complicated and complex character. As I kept watching, I was blown away by Lohmann’s acting. After my viewing, I still do not have a final verdict on Andersen. The Hoyer character is more of a straight-to-the-point type of character we are used to seeing in films like this. It is almost like the directors want you to see the film through Hoyer’s eyes, but you cannot help but watch it through Andersen’s view.
- The Action: The tension and action in Enforcement will make your blood pressure shoot sky high. You will be on the edge of your seat the entire runtime. I would like to talk about the tension and action in one scene. It involves Andersen, a vicious dog and an elevator. Andersen fights the dog in an elevator, and the fight only takes a few moments, but it feels like forever, due to the camera’s focus on the elevator’s number. As the elevator goes down, the number slowly moves to the ground floor. The conclusion of the scene is unforgettable as well. The action you will find in Enforcement is appropriate for the survive the night action genre. Every scene is filmed with thought and the music is cool as well.
- The Balls: Enforcement is loaded with machismo manliness. I do not believe we would have the same ending if this was a Hollywood film. I believe Enforcement is a must see film. Who knew one of the most powerful police films I have ever seen would have come from Denmark?
