Bullet Points: Night Walk
When an action movie tries to compare itself to Romeo + Juliet, I am going to have my doubts. Let us see if my hunch is correct with Night Walk.
In case you are wondering, Night Walk from Lionsgate is coming to DVD and everywhere movies can be rented on June 15th. #NightWalkMovie
- The Plot: This is one of those East meets West type of films. A Boy from Somewhere USA meets a Girl from Somewhere Not in the USA. We also have different religions in play with Islam and Christianity. Frank (Sean Stone) falls for Sarah (Sarah Alami). Somehow, they end up in the Middle East and Sarah dies and Frank is framed for her murder. Will Frank be able to get revenge? What makes this case even stranger is Frank is sent back to the USA to serve his prison sentence. Are you still with me? Night Walk is written and directed by Aziz Tazi.
- What a Cast: If I were to sell this movie, I would only talk about the supporting cast. How can you not like Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Louis Mandylor, Richard Tyson, Ricco Ross from Aliens and a face you know, but you might not know his name in Patrick Kilpatrick? It is Kilpatrick who gets most of the screen time as a crooked corrections officer. He is easily the most entertaining of the recognizable faces. Rourke looks like what you would expect Rourke to look like in a DTV action movie. He does not get to play with any puppy dogs in this one as he is the ruthless leader of a prison gang. Ricco Ross is the other prison gang leader. Eric Roberts is a crooked judge and Louis Mandylor and Richard Tyson have blink and you miss them cameos. This is not a lie: Night Walk has an all-star cast of action superstars.
- Why Should You Care?: I cannot decide who the audience is for Night Walk. It does not have enough action for action junkies. It most certainly looks like it was made for a couple dollars and some change. The love story angle is quite depressing. The lead actor, Sean Stone tries his best, but is his best enough? There is a great substory involving another prisoner, Ayman (Laouni Mouhid). He is a good actor, and he has a great looking beard. Is this enough to get you to watch? I have a feeling Night Walk’s DVD cover will fool people at the Redbox due to Eric Roberts and Mickey Rourke being all over it. Night Walk did not do enough for me.

- False Advertising: IMDb has a habit of not being accurate at times. As of this writing Tiny Lister Jr is listed in the cast. He is nowhere to be found. I watched the credits twice just to make sure. If he is in this movie, I missed him. RIP, Mr. Lister.
