Scene of the Week: Chicago PD Blues
The Blues Brothers opened in theaters on June 20, 1980. The action comedy starring John Belushi as the recently paroled Jake Blues and Dan Aykroyd as his brother Elwood Blues, is an absolute classic.
The movie, directed by John Landis, is known for its mix of comedy, classic R&B music and plenty of destruction as Jake and Elwood are tasked with saving the Catholic orphanage where they grew up… in other words, they are on a mission from God.
At the time of its release, The Blues Brothers set a new record for the number of cars destroyed in a movie… 103 for those keeping track. Of the 103 cars destroyed, 60 of them were cop cars. You can watch a good portion of those 60 cops get destroyed as we look back at the Chicago PD in hot pursuit of Jake and Elwood Blues on the streets of Chicago (with disastrous results) in this week’s Scene of the Week…
