Ryan Shoots First: The Bad Batch (S1 Ep11) “Devil’s Deal”
We are beginning the wind down to the final episodes of The Bad Batch and this week we see the Batch with their new found freedom end up right in the middle of the rebellion.
This week starts on the popular planet of Ryloth and Crosshair is on the lookout for insurgents. They are optimistic about what the Empire can do for the planet. The people aren’t crazy about being told to step down. General Syndulla reluctantly calms the crowd and tells them to step down. The Admiral asks about Herra herself and we see a young Herra with Chopper scouting the assembly from afar. In a sweet scene she looks up at the sky dreaming of the stars. This moment is broken up as clones descend on her and Chopper. Clone Houser tells the general he will let it slide this time but it can’t happen again. Herra’s uncle put her up to it as he doesn’t trust the clones and how they have not left Ryloth. Herra talks with her father and she expresses her desire to fly away from this world.
Later Herra meets up with her uncle who is on a supply run, she tells him she can’t go but he says he was going to let her fly so she jumps at the chance. As they are leaving we see Crosshair place a tracker on their ship. They stop on a nearby moon to meet the supplier and it turns out to be our boys in the Bad Batch. Herra is amazed by their ship and talks to Omega and asks to see the ship. As they return with the payload Crosshair shoots the ship down, as troopers move in Herras’ presence convinces them this means the Syndullas are plotting an uprising. Chopper reports to Herras parents that they are set to be executed for treason with no trial. Her family spring into action to stop the convoy. They manage to rescue the prisoners and Cham considers taking out the senator but is talked out of it which is good cause Crosshair had him in his sights the whole time. The Admiral is letting this all happen because he knows rebellion is good for business and will allow them to tighten their grip on Ryloth. As Cham changes his mind the Admiral gives Crosshair the ok and he takes out the Senator. Troops show up and arrest them for the assisantation of the senator that they are of course framed for. Herra is able to escape but the Admiral hands a blaster to Clone Houser and tells him to hunt her down as the episode ends.
I am sure we are setting up Houser and Herra contacting the Batch to help as it seems Houser may not have been affected by Order 66. Something is different to him than all the other clones ruthlessly following orders.
Observations
- Oh look the Syndullas!
- Side note this reminds me of in Rebels how Hera switches to her native accent when she is on her home world…and how it makes me simp.
- Kinda odd this is one of the first time we have seen one of the clones since Order 66 not only in non-all white armor but not being an ass hole.
- My boy Chopper!!! I already love this episode.
- Herra dreaming of the stars and that shot with her outstretched hand and the animals flying by… Frikin beautiful.
- For some reason I want Omega to meet everyone in Star Wars… Boba, Grogu, Ahsoka I just want to see her interact with everyone.
- I better see Chopper kill someone.
- Omega Herra team up coming next week! Also maybe Chopper will kill someone.
