Bullet Points: Sweet Girl
Another week and another highly anticipated movie releasing exclusively on Netflix. This time, I am taking an early look at Sweet Girl starring Jason Momoa. Look for Sweet Girl globally on Netflix this Friday, August 20th.
- The Plot: It is Big Pharma vs. Big Man when Ray Cooper (Jason Momoa) goes on a rampage after his wife dies of cancer. Sweet Girl also stars Isabela Merced, Justin Bartha, Amy Brenneman, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis and Michael Raymond-James. Sweet Girl is directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza.
- Big Mo: Jason Momoa was born to be an action star. He does major Hollywood productions like Aquaman and B movie action flicks such as Braven. Sweet Girl falls somewhere in the middle of a major motion picture and a B movie. The action is definitely a highlight worth discussing.
- About That Action: I am not one to take notes while watching a film for review. I did jot down a few words for Sweet Girl. Included in my notes are fire extinguisher, face smash, train fight, signature Momoa uses an axe moment, bumping bulldozer and tow truck speeding. In a lot of action movies I cover, the action appears lazy. This is not the case for Sweet Girl. You can tell there was a lot of effort put into the stunts and action choreography. Sweet Girl packs a sweet action punch.
- Final Verdict: Sweet Girl features strong performances from Jason Momoa, Isabela Merced and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.
- Grade: B+
