Scene of the Week: Top Secret! Bar Fight

Top Secret! might not be the most remembered spoof movie from Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker, but when their filmography includes Airplane! and The Naked Gun you can understand why it is sometimes overlooked. I am here to tell you that if you enjoy action movies with tons of parody and especially visual gags you don’t want to sleep on Top Secret! Val Kilmer as rock star Nick Rivers getting mixed up in East German political machinations is a perfect spoof of spy films mixed with Elvis Presley style musical films.

This week’s Scene of the Week takes a look at an exciting fight that starts on a truck between Kilmer’s Nick Rivers, Christopher Villers’ Nigel ‘The Torch’ and somehow ends up in a western bar in the middle of Germany. Top Secret! once again proves the theory that if an action movie ends up in a bar there is going to be a fight. Even if that bar is completely underwater. Underwater defenestration for the win!
