Scene of the Week: Welcome to Fright Night
The final showdown between the protagonist and the antagonist is a common trait that the action movie and horror movie genres often share.
One of my favorite final battles between good and evil was from 1985’s Fright Night. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, Fright Night tells the tale of Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale), a typical high school student who suddenly finds himself living next door to a blood sucking vampire named Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon).
This week’s Scene of the Week takes a look at Charley, as he musters the courage to face Jerry Dandridge in hopes of rescuing his girlfriend Amy (Amanda Bearse) from being a permanent member of the undead. But Charley doesn’t go into this battle alone, he is joined by one of my favorite movie characters of all-time… Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), a former cinematic vampire killer, who finds himself having to become an actual vampire killer, despite the fact that he is scared shitless…
