Bullet Points: Red Notice
Netflix continues to release new movies each and every week. On November 12th, Netflix will release one of their biggest films to date, Red Notice…
- The Plot: An art thief (Ryan Reynolds, The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife), and an FBI profiler (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Walking Tall), are forced to join forces to outwit another art thief (Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman 1984), in the search for Cleopatra’s three golden eggs. Red Notice also stars Ritu Arya, and there’s a fun cameo from Bulletproof Action favorite, Daniel Bernhardt. Red Notice is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. (Skyscraper, Central Intelligence and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story)
- Forced Chemistry: Star power alone is not enough for Red Notice. The chemistry between the trio of leads is next to non-existent. Red Notice tries the “buddy cop” angle, and most of the jokes fall flat. The Rock and Ryan Reynolds are certainly no Tango and Cash. You would think Hobbs, Deadpool and Wonder Woman would make the ultimate action cinematic team, instead Red Notice is a 200 million dollar potential flop if it was not steaming straight to Netflix.
- The Action: Red Notice has some big action with the stunt doubles earning their money. It is yet another film with a Russian prison break. Red Notice tries to be slick, but to me, Red Notice is a sloppy mess. Red Notice is more action than it is a heist movie, but the action is simply not enough.
- Close It Out: Red Notice had me excited. With a cast like this, how could it miss? You know what? Red Notice misses and strikes out swinging with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in game seven of the World Series. Action Fanatics, we might have a Razzie contender on our hands.
