Bullet Points: Apex (2021)
I am not sure what I’m a bigger sucker for, “human hunting human” movies or Bruce Willis DTV movies? I get both with Apex, which is now available to rent on all VOD formats or for the cost of just $14.99 you can own a digital copy.
- The Plot: Bruce Willis is hunted by a group of hunters led by Neil McDonough. Apex also stars Lochlyn Monroe, Corey Large and Wayne Gretzky’s son, Trevor Gretzky. Apex is written and directed by Edward Drake.
- The Pillow Meter: The reason why 99.9% of all action fanatics click on my Lazy Bruce reviews: The Pillows!! How lazy is Bruce in Apex? Has the time change messed up your sleep cycle? It has mine. But I know someone whose sleep cycle never gets messed up. Yes, Bruce Willis! I’ve seen Bruce lazy as all get go in Out of Death and countless other movies I don’t have the energy to list. Apex could be Bruce at his absolute most lazy. That’s saying a lot. In most Human hunting Human movies, the hunted need to move to stay alive. Not Bruce. He lays down for a nap while watching some of the worst hunters in recent memory turn on each other. He smokes a cigar. Bruce randomly eats berries and goes for a short nature walk. I noticed an earpiece in his ear during a scene so his LINES COULD BE FED TO HIM SO HE DOESN’T HAVE TO LEARN HIS LINES! I noticed Bruce’s head double in countless scenes. The biggest sin is how Bruce finally starts killing bad guys. He doesn’t. The scenes never show Bruce. They are all body double / we are not going to show kill shot, just the bad guys dying. I just can’t go on with this pillow meter. 5 out of 5 pillows…
- Closing it Out: Why should you watch Apex? You shouldn’t. I have seen way too much Bruce, but Apex is not worth going into any more detail. Not only is Bruce lazy, but the entire film is one big snooze fest. Lazy does not begin to describe Apex. I witnessed zero effort when it came to filmmaking. I hope you read my review before you rent Apex. Apex is the worst film I’ve reviewed all year. You have been warned.
