Scene of the Week: Eye of the Tiger
Eye of the Tiger, starring Gary Busey, Yaphet Kotto and William Smith, opened in theaters on November 28, 1986. It is a movie that completely flew under my radar upon its release and in the decades that followed, a story I have told here on the site and on The Bulletproof Podcast in the past.
This week’s Scene of the Week is special for me, because it takes me back to the first time I was exposed to the greatness of Eye of the Tiger. It was late one Saturday night in the first half of 2014, I switched over to THIS TV and saw absolute mayhem… I had no idea what led up to this moment and since I hate starting movies in the middle I didn’t want to keep watching when the movie broke for commercial and I picked my jaw up off the floor, so I had no idea what happened after this scene either. That is until a few months later when I finally decided to purchase the DVD, a decision I only regret not making sooner as Eye of the Tiger became an instant favorite for me.
If you’ve never seen Eye of the Tiger, this scene may hook you. If you have seen Eye of the Tiger, then you know this is just one of the many standout scenes from the film. Either way, enjoy…
