Scene of the Week: The Green Hornet and Kato Strike!

Adam West and Burt Ward may be the more recognizable names when it comes to crime fighting duos but there is no doubt in my mind who I was rooting for the first time I saw Batman and Robin take on The Green Hornet and Kato.

While ole Bats and his young friend were splashing rainbow POW’s and POOF’s across the screen during their fight scenes, Van Williams and Bruce Lee were laying the smack down on inner city gangsters and scum with an iron fist. Bruce will forever go down as the legend that he is but Van Williams is overlooked as the newspaper publisher Britt Reid. More handsome than Adam West. He was a better on-screen fighter than Adam West, and definitely had a better crime fighting partner than the caped crusader. Van Williams should’ve lived out his days as a mega-star but mostly stopped working in front of the screen in the late 70’s.
