Scene of the Week: Samoan Warriors
In the world of professional wrestling no other bloodline has produced more wrestling superstars than the Anoaʻi family. How many have they produced? Well, they’ve produced more wrestling superstars than there are Fast & Furious movies!
The most famous member of the Anoaʻi bloodline is without question Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Rock began his movie career in 2001’s The Mummy Returns and that got his Hollywood momentum going. Over the next decade The Rock would appear in a wide range of movies, but it wasn’t until 2011 where he seemed to earn his A list status. 2011 was the year the Anoaʻi bloodline and the Fast & Furious bloodlines would first mix when The Rock joined the cast of Fast 5 as DSS Agent Luke Hobbs.
The Rock would reprise the role of Hobbs in Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious and the 2019 spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside fellow Fast & Furious alumnus, Jason Statham, who plays Deckard Shaw.
In Hobbs & Shaw, rivals Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw form an unlikely team to take down the cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), who is threatening the very future of mankind. Hobbs gives the good guys the home field advantage when they return to Hobbs’ native home of Samoa to prepare for battle and it is here where another member of the Anoaʻi bloodline… Joe Anoa’i (aka Roman Reigns aka The Tribal Chief aka The Head of the Table) makes his movie debut playing Luke’s brother Mateo.
But enough talk, it is time to see these Samoan warriors kick some ass in this week’s Scene of the Week…
