Scene of the Week: Nemesis (1992)
The sad news broke last night that filmmaker Albert Pyun had passed away at the age of 69.
Pyun had a unique vision that was all his own and a deep passion for movie making. Hearing the raw emotion in his voice as he talked about what it meant to him to have the opportunity to live his dream on The Sword and the Sorcerer commentary track really struck a chord with me and probably anyone else whoever dreamed big. Pyun was a director that was able to do a lot with a little and he leaves behind a filmography chock full of unforgettable cult classics.
One such cult classic is 1992’s Nemesis starring Olivier Gruner, a movie that may best capture the spirit and style of Pyun. While Albert Pyun made a wide variety of movies over the course of his career, it was certainly not uncommon to find cyborgs in one of his films and it was also not uncommon to find some over the top action in his films either, this week’s Scene of the Week from Nemesis features both. Sit back and enjoy this eye popping, bullet riddled Scene of the Week and take a moment to remember the work of Albert Pyun…
