Scene of the Week: Breakheart Pass
We have thoroughly covered The Cannon Era of Charles Bronson’s career on this site, but we haven’t give as much love to Bronson’s earlier works. Before Bronson was one of Cannon’s cornerstones, he made a name for himself around the world… including many a film in the western subgenre.
One of my favorite Charles Bronson westerns is 1975’s Breakheart Pass, based on the book of the same name by Alistair MacLean. Bronson plays John Deakin, an undercover U.S. Secret Service Agent who finds himself investigating some shady business being done by Governor Fairchild of Nevada (played by Richard Crenna) while both are among the passengers on a train heading to Fort Humboldt.
Deakin’s snooping around does not go undetected and in this week’s Scene of the Week, we see what happens when Deakin gets caught by Carlos the Cook (played by former professional boxer Archie Moore)…
