Ryan Shoots First: Loki (S2 Ep5) “Science/Fiction”
After some real big swings and some pretty creepy nightmare fuel the stakes could not be higher this week on Loki.
This episode wasn’t quite what I thought was coming. We kinda hit the reset button and this week takes a deep breath as Loki does his best to get the band back together. Even though the episode is relatively slow it again really goes bonkers in the final moments.
Last week we saw Victor Timely go all string theory and now all of time has kinda melted down. Or so we thought. This episode has some neat payoff moments as we bounce around different branches on the timeline but I was kinda hoping we may get a little more payoff. As mentioned above we get there in the final moments but this felt like more set up to whatever big moment is coming in the series. Largely the end goal this episode serves to set up kinda undercuts everything that had happened in the previous 40 minutes. Or so it seems I guess who knows next week we could shake it all back up again and it could all mean everything. Cause that’s how this show is. It’s pointless trying to guess or theorize as they just throw all new kinks into the system every week. As Ob says this week “what you’re trying to do is impossible so I guess it could happen”. Totally checks out.
Save for some fun payoffs this episode largely didn’t deliver on the hype of the final moments last week and it felt like a missed opportunity to really kick the show in to high gear, instead we kinda just shifted in neutral and coasted. I still want to know what’s going on but some of that buzz has worn off.
