Ryan Shoots First: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (S1 Ep6) “Terrifying Miracles”

This week’s episode of Monarch was a return to what made the first three episodes great. Fast-paced and never sitting in either timeline too long before moving back and forth. Keeps the story going and even if the scenes are dramatic and personal stories the fresh change of scenery keeps things moving.

Yes, after two episodes away we are back in the past timeline with the story of Shaw and the early days of Monarch. A new scientist is introduced named Suzuki who I liked and reminded me of some of the scientists recently in Godzilla Minus One, this show really is kinda a middle ground between both versions of Godzilla. The introspective type and the blockbuster big-time kaiju action. Godzilla can be both and there is room for both at the same time. Later in the episode, we see how one decision from Shaw would set Monarch on the path to the shady-ish organization it is today. We took the first big step to get some insight into why the Shaw we see in the past becomes the jaded Shaw we see in the present. 

Back in the present, the hunt for Papa Randa continues and the squad is finally making some discoveries about what’s going on and even has a reunion the show has been teasing since the very beginning. There is a revelation to Kate that really kinda misses as the revelation isn’t really as bad as the show seems to be selling but I’ll mention more in my observations below when you’ve seen the episode. We even get some Kaiju action in both timelines which you just love to see. With four episodes left, it seems some big stuff is in the works as the looming threat in this episode was described as being G-Day times 1000. Not sure if that is alluding to what we see in King of the Monsters or just another event they will stop but consider me intrigued!

• So this is all Shaws fault for thinking with his dick

• How far is a click? All the movies I’ve seen it referenced in no idea. 
• Eh she really only sold them out to the French chick which actually ended up leading them to their father sooooo. The Monarch soldiers found them separate from her and would have found them regardless.
