Bullet Points: Counterattack (2025)
It’s time to go south of the border, down Mexico way for another brand new Netflix action offering… 2025’s Counterattack…

- How Did We Get Here?: The movie starts off hot, with Special Forces Captain Armando Guerrero and his unit on the road to the United States, ready to enjoy a much deserved three day leave. Everything is going according to plan, until a truck t bones their car and they immediately find themselves under attack from some sicario hitmen… The movie then goes back 72 hours earlier, where a mother and her teenage daughter make a grisly discovery on the side of the road… it’s a mass burial site! When the mother and daughter go into town to report their findings, the very same truck of cartel cretins, intimidate and harass them and it looks these women are about to be kidnapped… fortunately for them, Captain Guerrero was enjoying some cervezas across the street and as he was leaving the bar, he couldn’t help but notice the commotion outside the police station… Guerrero intervenes and gets in the face of Roman, the brother of cartel boss, Josefo. When it is all said and done, Roman and his men are arrested and the women are safe… for now.
- Men on a Mission: The bodies are recovered from the mass burial site. All were members of a military unit that went missing on a mission to arrest Josefo. Now Captain Guerrero and his team are tasked with apprehending the man who is believed to be responsible for dumping the bodies… El Marrano. The mission goes off without a hitch, El Marrano and his minions are apprehended and turned over to the authorities… now Captain Guerrero and his men can enjoy a three day leave across the border, including celebrating the birthday of the youngest member of the team, Pollo. But what Guerrero and his men don’t know is that a government sells out to Josefo, giving the cartel a phone that can track Guerrero and his team. Josefo tasks his brother Roman with taking out the “Murcielagos”… and that’s when we get back to where we started…

- Things Get Wild: After the collision, we get a brief firefight between the Special Forces unit and the Cartel hitmen. Guerrero and his men may be outnumbered, but Roman and his men are clearly outclassed. Roman is the last one breathing for his side and he calls big brother Josefo, before he dies. Guerrero calls for an extraction team, but there’s no way they’ll get there before the bad guys… so they set a checkpoint and Guerrero, Pollo, Combo, Tanque and Toro will need to get there on foot through the wilderness and with Josefo and a small army not too far behind. Guerrero and the team do an admirable job of thinning the ranks of Josefo’s army as they trudge their way closer and closer to the checkpoint… but Josefo has also brought some heavy artillery with them and that may be too much even for the Murcielagos to handle!
Counterattack delivers some great military style action, but what really grabbed me was the camaraderie between Guerrero, Pollo, Toro, Combo and Tanque… They felt like a team with a very strong bond, who legit cared about one another, which in turn made it easy to care about them. Then you put them against a dastardly drug kingpin and his hired guns and you want them to win at all costs.
Counterattack is another Netflix movie that I would highly recommend, especially for all our Sniper franchise fans out there, Counterattack definitely falls in your wheelhouse.
