Scene of the Week: Boiling Point
Boiling Point, starring Wesley Snipes, hit theaters in the United States on April 16, 1993.
It is hard to believe that was 30 years ago. It is harder to believe that in the past three decades I have never seen 1993’s Boiling Point. Don’t take that as an indictment on Wesley Snipes. On the contrary, I am a fan of Wesley Snipes. I saw all of Snipes’ action offerings that came out right before Boiling Point, like Passenger 57 and New Jack City, and all of Snipes’ action offerings that came out right before Boiling Point, like Rising Sun, Demolition Man and Drop Zone. Yet somehow I let Boiling Point slip through the cracks.
Having a proven action hero like Wesley Snipes in the movie should have been enough for me to watch, but when you include the all-star cast that joined Snipes’ in Boiling Point, there were even more reasons to watch… I am talking Dennis Hopper, Viggo Mortensen, Jonathan Banks, Dan Hedaya and James Tolkan just to name a few.
At this point I was already disgusted with myself that I have never seen this movie, but I may have made matters worse when I went looking for Boiling Point clips on YouTube for this post and spoiled the ending for myself. If you are like me and have never seen Boiling Point, you will want to go ahead and skip watching this week’s Scene of the Week, which apparently can only be watched on YouTube…
