Scene of the Week: Happy Birthday Mr. T!

Laurence Tureaud was born on May 21, 1952… 30 years later he would be well on his way to becoming a 1980s pop culture icon, known as Mr. T, thanks to the release of Rocky III.

Rocky III helped launch Mr. T into the mainstream as he played Clubber Lang, a brash, hungry challenger looking to dethrone the reigning champion Rocky Balboa. Hot off the success of Rocky III, Mr. T would find himself playing a major part in The A-Team, having his own Saturday morning cartoon and breakfast cereal, even co-hosting Saturday Night Live and headlining the first WrestleMania with his Rocky III co-star, Hulk Hogan.
